About
My love (and obsession) for gardens (and red shoes) began when I was a little girl exploring my grandmothers gardens in Flintridge, California. I was mesmerized by the sights, sounds and scents.
Later on my family moved to central, PA where we planted gardens and grew enormous zucchini that I tried (sometimes successfully) to pawn off on the neighbors.
Our family friend and babysitter, Becky taught me how to work on a dairy farm, drive a tractor, harvest vegetables, can pickles and cook scrapple (it's an acquired taste).
Then one summer our family came to Maine on vacation and I knew I was "home". In 1970 we built a cottage in Steuben and spent every summer there.
Eventually, I made Maine my year round home and today I live in Hampden with my husband David. Married for six years, we purchased a new home together. It was a blank slate with no landscaping. We have DIY'd gardens, raised beds, planted trees and put in a patio. It continues to be a labor of love with many lessons learned!
I have a long history working in media sharing stories of entrepreneurs, small businesses and cool people! I decided to combine that with my love for gardening in Maine and founded "My Maine Gardens" in July of 2022. That led to a weekly segment on WABI TV5.
In December, 2023 I launched a line of apparel inspired by my Maine gardens. Huge shout to my new friend, Jen and the talented team at W.S. Emerson in Brewer, Maine who have been my creative partners, bringing my visions to life!
Like gardening, this journey continues to bring me joy and surprises and I am grateful that you are part of it!
Keep going and growing........
